Whether you’re a local looking for something new to experience or a visitor ready to see what Idaho summers in Boise have to offer, there is a lineup of events and activities that will make for an unforgettable summer and fill your calendar with plans!

Bring the whole family out for some wholesome fun this August. Mark your calendars for Zoobilee on August 16th at Zoo Boise! This annual event promises an evening of food, drinks, and entertainment for all ages. Kids can enjoy face painting, animal encounters, and scavenger hunts, while adults can partake in tastings from local breweries and wineries. It’s a fantastic way to support the zoo and have a wild night out with the family.

A “must-do” on the summer bucket list for families is the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic, running from August 28th to September 1st. This dazzling event will fill the skies over Ann Morrison Park with colorful hot air balloons. The kids will love the Night Glow Spectacular, where the balloons light up the night sky. Early risers can also catch the morning ascensions for a breathtaking start to the day.

Sports fans won’t want to miss the Albertsons Boise Open from August 22th to 25th. This premier golf tournament attracts top golf talent and offers a fantastic mix of world-class golf and live music. Music on the Mountain at Bogus Basin is a free concert series with a lineup of incredible summer music. Plan a whole day to experience the breathtaking outdoors with scenic hiking trails and thrilling mountain biking, and after a morning of fun activities, settle in for a concert with the stunning mountain backdrop. Don’t forget your lawn chairs or a blanket and kick back and enjoy the sunshine and sounds!

For another unique outdoor experience, don’t miss the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. In August, Shakespeare’s magical comedy, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is featured. August is a fantastic time to get outside and stay active. Whether you enjoy yoga, mountain biking, hiking or running, there are plenty of activities planned that will get your blood pumping!

Even a basketball tournament that takes to the streets is an option, as BAM Jam 3 on 3 Basketball returns August 2nd-4th. BAM Jam is the biggest 3 on 3 basketball tournament in Idaho where youth, high school and adult teams compete. The tournament is located in the heart of downtown Caldwell, ID at Indian Creek Plaza, which provides an awesome playing environment with shaded streets and easy parking. Indian Creek Plaza features some of the best food vendors in town. Grab a bite to eat, a refreshing drink or an ice cold treat while you are waiting for the next game. Bring the whole family and enjoy BAM Jam!

Farmers Markets

No summer is complete without a visit to a farmers market, and Boise’s markets are some of the best around. The Capital City Public Market downtown runs every Saturday morning and is the perfect spot to pick up local fresh produce and seasonal vegetables and fruit, handmade crafts, and delicious baked goods. It’s a great way to spend a Saturday morning, enjoying the atmosphere of downtown Boise, and supporting local businesses!
