Tobin Bolter Memorial Kids’ Duathlon

Place

Ada Eagle Bike Park
Old Horseshoe Bend Rd
Garden City, ID US 83714

Description

We are so excited for the 8th Annual Ada County Kids’ Duathlon on Saturday, September 21st, now known as the Tobin Bolter Memorial Kids’ Duathlon. We have some really fun things lined up for your kids and can’t wait for the big day. Below you will find some important event logistics and a map of the event, including the courses for each age group.

PACKET PICKUP

One of our sponsors, Fleet Feet, has generously offered to host Packet Pickup in their stores the week before the event. You can choose to pick up your shirt, bag, and packet on either of the following days:

  • Wednesday, September 18th from 12-6pm at the Nampa location (1850 Caldwell Blvd Ste 120, Nampa, ID 83651)
  • Thursday, September 19th from 12-6pm at the Meridian location (3573 E Longwing Ln STE 105, Meridian, ID 83646)

If you are unable to attend either of these, please let me know and we can work out another time and place. If your packet has not been picked up and I have not heard from you by 8:00AM the morning of the event, I will assume you are unable to attend and forfeit your spot.

DAY OF SCHEDULE

We have made some significant changes to this year’s schedule from years past. This year’s schedule will be as follows:

8:30-9:00 Opening Ceremonies hosted by our elected officials.

  • Our elected officials, including the Board of Ada County Commissioners, Ada County Sheriff Clifford, and City of Eagle Mayor Pike will be speaking and kicking off our event for us.

9:00-9:20 10-12 year old (girls) Race

9:25-9:45 10-12 year old (boys) Race

9:50-10:10 8-9 year old (girls) Race

10:15-10:35 8-9 year old (boys) Race

10:40- 11:00 6-7 year old (girls) Race

11:05-11:25 6-7 year old (boys) Race

11:30-11:50 4-5 year old (girls) Race

11:55-12:15 4-5 year old (boys) Race

12:20-12:30 3 year old Race

12:30-1:30 Raffle and Award Ceremony

Our elected officials will rejoin us for this portion of the event to help us pass out awards and over a dozen raffle items from generous local businesses.

PARKING

You can park in either the North or South parking lots, just be aware that the North parking lot will not be accessible during the races. We will have volunteers there ensuring that our participants are safe crossing the street. If you plan on attending the entirety of the event, you shouldn’t have any issues, but just heads up. You can also utilize the street as overflow parking.

When you arrive, place your participant(s)’ bikes in the designated bike corral along the race route in the south parking lot. When they are done with their race, they will park them on the basketball court near the finish line.

RACE RULES

All participants must wear a helmet any time they are on a bicycle. Each participant will receive a bib with timing chips attached in their race packet at packet pickup. When you arrive at the event, it is imperative that you instruct your children not to cross the start or finish line outside of their race, as it will mess up their time and alter the results. Keep in mind that these courses are happening on trails – there is not a lot of extra room for passing or for parents to be close by. We do have designated spectator viewing areas, and will also have volunteers placed along the route to ensure their safety. For parents of our 3 year old competitors, who will mostly be on asphalt and will only do the running portion on the trail, if your child needs you to run the race with them for moral support, you are welcome to do that!

SPONSORS AND ON SITE VENDORS

We have some really great vendors lined up to be on site at this year’s event. There is a preliminary map attached of who we will have on site this year (subject to change, as we are still over a month out and still have some potential vendors TBD). Outside of your race, you can visit these vendors, do crafts, get your face painted, or grab a bite to eat. This year, our food will be provided by local Boys and Girls Scouts as a fundraiser for their troops. Menu items (most likely breakfast burritos, fruit, beverages, chips, hot dogs, etc.) will be priced at $2-5 per item. To help them get a general headcount and plan how much food they will need, it would be super helpful if you would fill out this form. Don’t worry, we won’t hold you to this 😊 Just trying to get them an idea of a headcount so they can be as successful as possible.

EVENT SPONSORS

This event truly would not be possible without our sponsors, so we wanted to make sure to give them a shout out here and express our gratitude to them. Our platinum sponsors are Fleet Feet, North Star Outdoor Services, and Scheels. Our gold sponsors are Dillabaugh’s Flooring, Hardin Sanitation, Kidstrong Meridian, and ICCU. We are also very grateful to the YMCA, our timers and co-hosts at this event.

We are also incredibly grateful to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office for allowing us to rename this event in honor of Deputy Tobin Bolter. It is an honor to play a small part in memorializing him and his service to our community.
