Recently, The Mike Brown Group announced creating a new charitable foundation called Together We Give. The Mike Brown Group contributes to the foundation for every real estate transaction our agents are a part of, and then the funds are given away as grants at the end of each year to deserving area charities. As a result of choosing our firm for their real estate transactional needs, our clients directly impact these charities.
Today, we’re continuing our series of posts introducing you to the five Treasure Valley charities awarded grants this year. We’ve previously written about the Ronald McDonald House, the Boise Bicycle Project, and Boise Angels.
In today’s post, we’re featuring the Idaho Youth Ranch. Many people will recognize the Idaho Youth Ranch for its thrift stores, which help support its mission of serving the state’s most vulnerable youth through various programs.
What most people don’t know, however, is that the Idaho Youth Ranch offers programs beyond just job readiness training. They offer a variety of programs that help meet each young person where they’re at in life. The services they offer include equine therapy, individual counseling, family therapy, group therapy, adoptions, telemental health, and short-term housing for runaway and homeless youth.
According to Scott Curtis, the Idaho Youth Ranch CEO, “Many people don’t know that they have resources available to them through the Youth Ranch.” The organization has also just hired a bilingual therapist to serve the Treasure Valley, but primarily focus their efforts in Canyon County. “We plan to use the grant funds to help cover the cost of our new bilingual therapist,“ said Curtis. “Many of the kids speak English, but their parents only speak Spanish, and Canyon County is underserved,” he said.
Voting by The Mike Brown Group’s clients will determine what charities will receive; however, all will receive a minimum of $5,000. For 2020, the top three vote-earning organizations will receive a portion of over $100,000 to be distributed the week of December 14.
