Idaho’s Jewish Festival

September 1 @ 11:00 am - 9:00 pm

Congregation Ahavath Beth Israel (CABI) is proud to announce that the event formerly known as Deli Days has been re-imagined, re-branded and reborn as Idaho’s Jewish Festival. Idaho’s Jewish Festival’s vision is to promote awareness, appreciation, and celebration of Jewish culture in Idaho.

Idaho’s Jewish Festival will take place at Congregation Ahavath Beth Israel at 11 N. Latah, Sunday Sep 1, 2024, from 9:30am to 9:00pm, and is a public event. We’ll come together to celebrate through food, music, and dance.

Deli sandwiches, bagels, knishes, beer, wine, and delectable desserts from Goldstein’s Bagels & Bialys (https://www.goldsteinsbagels.com/) will be available as well as homemade baked goods from CABI.

This year’s entertainment will include Noam Vazana (aka Nani). Nani is an internationally recognized artist. Known for her captivating performances, Nani is a master in Judeo-Spanish tradition known as Ladino, a Jewish culture dating back to medieval Spain. The Moody Jews of Boise, Hot Club Les Bois, and Switch in Time will round out the musical entertainment for Idaho’s Jewish Festival 2024. More info about Nani can be found at https://nanimusic.com/

The festival will include seminars, tours of the historic synagogue, Jewish folk dancing, and other elements showcasing Jewish art and literature.

The event kicks off at 9:30am with a yoga flow and nature walk wellness sessions. These sessions are curated by JSDA Inc.

Another part of Idaho’s Jewish festival is a free seminar titled “The Past, Present and Future of Ladino Culture” at 1:30 p.m. on August 29. This seminar is hosted by Idaho Museum of International Diaspora (IMID) at the Osher Institute of Lifelong learning. Through examination of literature, music, and firsthand experiences, we will explore the medieval origins of the Judeo-Spanish culture known as Ladino. Ladinos are a people who originated in North Africa and Spain during the Middle Ages. The Ladino language is a rich dialect spoken by the Sephardic Jews. Ladino music is an exhilarating combination of intricate melodies and captivating rhythms, treating the listener to an aural experience both exotic and familiar. The seminar will occur at Yanke Family Research Park 220 E. Parkcenter Blvd. Boise, ID 83706. More info can be found at https://aceware.boisestate.edu/wconnect/CourseStatus.awp?&course=OL249S082924
