Family Activities
Bring the whole family out for some wholesome fun this August. Mark your calendars for Zoobilee on August 16th at Zoo Boise! This annual event promises an evening of food, drinks, and entertainment for all ages. Kids can enjoy face painting, animal encounters, and scavenger hunts, while adults can partake in tastings from local breweries and wineries. It’s a fantastic way to support the zoo and have a wild night out with the family.
A “must-do” on the summer bucket list for families is the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic, running from August 28th to September 1st. This dazzling event will fill the skies over Ann Morrison Park with colorful hot air balloons. The kids will love the Night Glow Spectacular, where the balloons light up the night sky. Early risers can also catch the morning ascensions for a breathtaking start to the day.

Festivals and Events
Boise knows how to have fun, and August is packed with festivals and events! Get ready for some wild, western fun at the Caldwell Night Rodeo, running from August 13th to 17th. This thrilling event features rodeo competitions, mutton busting, and a lively atmosphere. It’s one of the top rodeos in the country and promises a rootin’-tootin’ good time for the whole family.
Sports fans won’t want to miss the Albertsons Boise Open from August 22th to 25th. This premier golf tournament attracts top golf talent and offers a fantastic mix of world-class golf and live music. It’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors, enjoy beautiful panoramic views of Boise from Hillcrest Country Club, and see some future PGA stars in action.

Arts and Music

Music on the Mountain at Bogus Basin is a free concert series with a lineup of incredible summer music. Plan a whole day to experience the breathtaking outdoors with scenic hiking trails and thrilling mountain biking, and after a morning of fun activities, settle in for a concert with the stunning mountain backdrop. Don’t forget your lawn chairs or a blanket and kick back and enjoy the sunshine and sounds!
For another unique outdoor experience, don’t miss the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. In August, Shakespeare’s magical comedy, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is featured. Bring a blanket, some snacks, and get ready for an exhilarating night of comedic adventure in a picturesque setting, suitable for all ages.
For those who prefer a more contemporary vibe, check out First Thursday on August 1st. Downtown Boise comes alive with art galleries, street performances, and open studios. Local merchants plan exciting, engaging in-store events including food and beverage tastings, local art exhibits, retail trunk shows, live music, family activities, and entertainment in a special and unique way you’ll only find in Downtown Boise. Staying Active

Even a basketball tournament that takes to the streets is an option, as BAM Jam 3 on 3 Basketball returns August 2nd-4th. BAM Jam is the biggest 3 on 3 basketball tournament in Idaho where youth, high school and adult teams compete. The tournament is located in the heart of downtown Caldwell, ID at Indian Creek Plaza, which provides an awesome playing environment with shaded streets and easy parking. Indian Creek Plaza features some of the best food vendors in town. Grab a bite to eat, a refreshing drink or an ice cold treat while you are waiting for the next game.
